Neural methods have led to substantial improvements in the information retrieval by providing the ability to better match query and document texts, but simultaneously satisfying the goals of effectiveness, efficiency, and robustness has proven difficult. At the Information Retrieval Lab of the Informatics Institute of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), we are looking for a PhD candidate interested in combining deep learning and information retrieval to design and evaluate neural retrieval methods with an emphasis on increasing the robustness of neural methods when applied to out-of-distribution data.
The supervisor for this position is Andrew Yates. The deadline is December 3. For application details, please see https://vacatures.uva.nl/UvA/job/PhD-Position-in-Robust-Neural-Methods-for-Information-Retrieval/736776002/
